PCR led the Intensive-Level Historic Resources Survey for the Normandie 5 Redevelopment Project Area. The Project Area was subdivided at the turn of the 20th Century and by the 1920's the area was primarily a single-family community with commercial and retail uses. The survey encompassed all properties within the project area and provided a complete and current list of historic resources. PCR developed a historic context statement for the project area identifying contexts and related themes that are specific to the project area and/or citywide. PCR also prepared planning recommendations and participated in a public outreach program. The results of this survey will be used by CRA staff and the community to guide future preservation efforts, project planning, and adaptive reuse. The survey information will become part of the citywide Los Angeles Historic Resource Survey Project coordinated by the Office of Historic Resources in the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. Having completed the survey effort, PCR is presently preparing California Register nominations for eligible properties and a historic district within the survey area.
