Senior Level Archaeologist/Paleontologist (Temporary Position)

PCR Services Corporation, an environmental consulting firm in Southern California, is seeking a Senior-level Archeologist/Paleontologist to support our staff temporarily during a staff member’s leave of absence.  The temporary term will be from mid-October through mid-March.  If the division’s workload at the end of the temporary term is sufficient to support an additional staff member, the position has the potential to become permanent.  Resumes and inquires may be sent to <>.


  • Conduct Archaeological Resource investigations in compliance with Section 106 of the NHPA, NEPA, CEQA, and local cultural resource guidelines
  • Conduct and/or oversee cultural and paleontological record searches, Native American consultation, pedestrian surveys, excavations (testing and data recovery), and construction monitoring
  • Prepare proposals (scope of work, schedule, and cost) for all types of archaeological investigations
  • Prepare technical reports and IS/EA and EIR/EIS Sections
  • Project Management (coordination with clients, agencies, and/or other PCR staff, budget tracking, etc.)


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology or Anthropology(with emphasis in Archaeology)
  • Experience conducting archaeological investigations at a supervisory level in the Western United States
  • At least 5 years of cultural resources management experience focusing on archaeological resources
  • Demonstrated familiarity with California CEQA and Section 106 regulations
  • Experience in preparing complex proposals and associated effective cost estimates
  • Proficiency in writing technical reports for cultural resources management projects
  • Ability to identify and analyze artifacts from the prehistoric and historic periods
  • Located locally enough to operate from PCR’s Irvine office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Archaeology or Anthropology(with thesis in Archaeology)
  • Member of Register of Professional Archaeologists
  • Field experience in Southern California
  • Paleontological resources experience

Air Quality Engineer/Scientist

An environmental professional with 2 to 8 years of experience in conducting complex air quality and GHG analyses in support of CEQA/NEPA projects and special studies. Candidates must have proven mastery of SCAQMD CEQA guidelines, including LST methodologies and mobile and stationary source emission calculations (EMFAC, AP-42, CalEEMod).  Candidates with experience in dispersion modeling and health risk assessments (HRA) are preferred.  The ideal candidate will have excellent mathematical, computer, and communication skills, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science/engineering or related discipline (chemical or mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or atmospheric sciences). Professional registration (EIT, P.E., CPP) and stationary source compliance experience is highly desirable.

An acoustics professional with 4 to 10 years of experience in conducting noise and vibration impact assessments in support of CEQA/NEPA projects, special studies, and compliance issues to join expanding practice. Candidates must have knowledge of sound/vibration measurement instrumentation, data processing and analysis, knowledge of sound and vibration modeling tools, and ability to review project drawings.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated mastery in written and verbal presentation of complex scientific problems and solutions, excellent mathematical and computer skills, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in acoustics or acoustical engineering or related discipline (engineering or physics, with specialization in acoustics and/or vibration). Professional registration (P.E.) is highly desirable.
