Archaeological and Paleontological Field Technicians (Southern California)

ESA PCR is seeking archaeological and paleontological field and lab technicians to assist us on an as-needed basis with upcoming projects in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange counties and surrounding areas.  These are independent contractor positions and compensation will be commensurate with experience, individual qualifications, and industry standards.

Responsibilities will include archaeological or paleontological survey, excavation (testing and/or data recovery), and/or construction monitoring.  Recordation tasks such as digital photography, sketching, mapping (GPS), note-taking and field form preparation will be required for these positions.  The technicians will work under the direction of a Crew Chief and/or Project Manager.

The ideal candidate shall have minimally a B.A or B.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, Paleontology, Geology, or closely related field, completed an accredited archaeological field school, and/or at least 6 months experience conducting fieldwork in California.  Exceptions may be made on an individual basis.  The candidates must be task-oriented, have a positive attitude, and have the ability to work in both group and individual settings.  The technicians must be physically fit, willing to travel, able to lift up to 30 pounds, able to perform all aspects of archaeological or paleontological field work, and work effectively in adverse weather conditions.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS software is a plus.

Our Air Quality & Climate Change Services Division is currently looking to fill the following position, in Pasadena or Santa Monica:

Air Quality Engineer/Scientist

An environmental professional with 5 to 8 years of experience in conducting complex air quality and GHG analyses in support of CEQA/NEPA projects and special studies. Candidates must have proven mastery of SCAQMD CEQA guidelines, including LST methodologies and mobile and stationary source emission calculations (EMFAC, AP-42, CalEEMod).  Candidates with experience in dispersion modeling and health risk assessments (HRA) and project management experience are preferred.  The ideal candidate will have excellent mathematical, computer, and communication skills, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science/engineering or related discipline (chemical or mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, or atmospheric sciences). Professional registration (EIT, P.E., CPP), and stationary source compliance experience is highly desirable.

Our Acoustic Services Division is currently looking to fill the following position, in Irvine or Pasadena:

Senior Acoustical Engineer/Scientist

PCR is seeking an acoustics professional with 10+ years of experience in conducting noise and vibration impact assessments in support of CEQA/NEPA projects, special studies, and compliance issues to join expanding practice. Candidates must have deep knowledge of sound/vibration measurement instrumentation, data processing and analysis, sound and vibration modeling tools, and ability to review project drawings.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated mastery in written and verbal presentation of complex scientific problems and solutions, demonstrated experience in project and budget management, excellent mathematical and computer skills, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in acoustics or acoustical engineering or related discipline (engineering or physics, with specialization in acoustics and/or vibration). Professional registration (P.E.) is highly desirable.
